Cheers

One day last week we took the kids and mum and dad to the block and had a quick drink to celebrate (the kids have been hounding us to do this but as the weather has been so bad we have been putting off doing it until a finer day). We were there for about half an hour and it kept the kids happy.

On Schedule

They were busy little bees today on site, plumbing had gone in, rio had been put in place and the footings poured. Things are going to plan for the pad to be poured on Friday. It's so exciting for us after big delays in getting to this point, we are on a roll.

Watch Out For The Holes!

The sun had almost gone down by the time we got to the block tonight but we were once again very happy to see progress. I really miss the sound of the birds at that time of day in our old suburb and can't wait to get back to them. Today the trenches had been dug for the footings and we could really see the shape taking form, the 3 large holes at the front where the verandah posts will be and the porch entrance where the front door will be got us picturing the finished product. I wonder what will happen tomorrow?

Compaction Complete

We went back a day later to have a look and this is what we found. It is now a real work site complete with a Porta Loo!

Siteworks Underway

We were very excited to get a text from a friend this morning who has prime position to see the block from her house (she lives at the end of our street) saying "It's all action at your place. 2 massive trucks just turned up." Trevor had today off so we went to have a look and the trucks had delivered the sand to fill in where the pool was and to level the block. A front end loader was busy at work so we called into our friends house and had a cuppa and watched another 4 loads of sand get delivered. It's all happening and we can finally feel the reality of it. We took the kids back after school and it was a level block, can't wait until Friday week when the pad goes down!

The Display Home

Here is a photo I took of the display home we are building. Our version of the house will be mirror image and the verandah is slightly different but this gives a guide to the colours and pretty much how it will look.

It's About To Start!

It has been 2 years in the making from the time we first decided to demolish our house and build our dream home so when the letter came this week saying "you are at construction" you have no idea how happy we were.

I will show photos of the progress on this blog, we can't wait to see the transformation from plot of dirt to our beautiful home.
